You can find general information about your treatment in this leaflet. This brochure ought to provide answers to the majority of your queries. It is not meant to take the place of the conversation you have with the medical staff, but it could serve as a jumping off point. If after reading it you have any questions or need more information, please speak with a member of the medical staff. Usually, a cervicogenic process results in profuse vaginal discharge and post-sex bleeding. Ectropion or ectopy is the term used for this. This is a typical occurrence where the fragile cells that line the cervix's surface expand out and reveal themselves. Because the cells lining the cervical canal are thinner than the thicker cells on the outside of the cervix, the cervix appears red. Having sex or getting a smear test is more likely to cause these sensitive cells to haemorrhage. Mucus is also made by the cells to lubricate the vagina. If these cells are exposed, the discharge can grow.
